The graphic print fair Pick Me Up at Somerset House was an absolutely incredible collection of studio groups and collectives. There were so many talented artists, that we will be writing a series of posts highlighting our favorites.
Paul X. Johnson
The first gallery wall we see is Paul X. Johnson’s and in an instant we know that this is going to be a great fair. His work is reminiscent of Tamara de Lempicka because of the cold, strong images of passive women. He applies pop culture references such as Blade Runner that inspire an Orwellian feel which pervades his work deeper than the image sitting on the surface would suggest. We look forward to seeing more of his work and we are very happy that he was our opening act to the Pick Me Up fair.
